The Domain Is the Name Buyers Keep
A domain name is the URL on the card, the ad, and the WhatsApp reply. .my tells a Malaysian buyer the business is here. A random free subdomain tells them you borrowed the address.
Who owns the login matters more than the extension. If the agency holds the domain and you cannot renew it, you do not own the brand online. We put that in the brief. The domain guide is the how-to. This article is why it sits in the same plan as design.
Hosting Is Where the Files Live
Web hosting is reachability: the HTML, the images, and a restore you can run. It is not speed work on a heavy page, and it is not security on an open login. Those are neighbouring jobs.
A cheap account with no backup is how a Tuesday outage becomes a rebuild. We would rather name hosting on its own line than hide it inside a design number.
Two Logins, One Failure
The usual Malaysian mess is a domain at one registrar, files at another, and email somewhere else, all in a staff Gmail that left last year. Design cannot save that. Care starts with who holds the keys.
If you are unsure, bring the URLs and the invoices. We will say whether this is a transfer, a host move, or new pages. Read redesign or care if someone is selling a rebuild because the domain expired.
What This Is Not
This is not a promise that a .my domain ranks higher on a date. Rankings are earned by pages. The domain is the address those pages live at.
It is also not a reason to move host every time the site feels slow. Measure the page first. Speed on mobile data is often media and scripts, not the server brand.
